Our IWD Saloni Session
What a Sunday (March 30th!). What a Saloni.
We are still buzzing from our Girl From Greece Saloni Session at The Cave Inn this past weekend—and we just wanted to say a massive, heart-expanding THANK YOU to everyone who came along, sang with us, laughed with us, and filled the room with warmth, music, and unapologetic matriarch energy.
Our Saloni Sessions are about more than just music. They’re about connection—about honouring our stories, our roots, our culture, and the women who shaped us. And on Sunday, surrounded by an incredible audience, delicious food, a few smudged lipsticks, and some truly powerful harmonies, we felt all of that in spades.
From the very first notes of Hathikes to the joyful dancing at the end, it was pure magic. And we have you to thank for that.
We especially want to acknowledge all the mums, aunties, sisters, yiayiades, daughters, and chosen family who joined us. This show was our love letter to you. Your strength, your softness, your ability to serve up a full feast while keeping the family—and the flame—alive? That’s what inspires us. That’s what Girl From Greece is all about.
Big love also to the legends at The Cave Inn for hosting us with such grace (and keeping the pizza and drinks flowing!), and to our incredible band: Nick Paras, Dave Kemp, Eddie Gazani, Dr Bob, and John Reeves—you brought the fire, the finesse, and the funk.
We’re also deeply grateful for everyone who helped spread the word, shared our posts, and invited friends along. Your support means the world.
📸 We’ve popped a few favourite pics from the day below—see if you can spot yourself (or your Yia Yia)! And if you took any happy snaps, we’d LOVE you to tag us @girfromgreeceband or send them through.
🎟️ Missed out this time? Don’t worry—we’ve got more Saloni Sessions coming soon, and we’d love to see your gorgeous faces there. Sign up to our mailing list or follow us on Instagram and Facebook to stay in the loop.
Lastly, thank you for making this dream a reality. Every time we get to share this music, these stories, and this love with our community, we’re reminded that we’re part of something bigger. A lineage. A legacy. And a whole lot of kefi.
With so much love and gratitude,
Mel & Kat
